This in the second kitchen cabinets that "As it Should be" designed and installed. "As It Should be" assisted in the final design , custom made the cabinets and performed the installation. Although we had an architect design the cabinet layout , we worked through many changes in the cabinet layout without complications. The custom cabinets are amazing and maximize all available space. We went custom because are home is old and standard cabinets would not utilize available space. I was most impressed with the installation. The team spent a few days lining up each cabinet in a space where walls and floor were not exactly square.

I used As It Should Be many times to do a variety of work on my house. Most importantly, they completely redesigned and custom built a new kitchen and powder room. This work required completely removing everything in both rooms and replacing everything with custom built cabinets. The result was absolutely magnificent. No one ever entered the house that wasn't completely wow'ed by the kitchen. Not only was the result beautiful, but extremely functional and I gained a great deal of cabinet space. The countertops and the back splash were beautiful as well and they were able to leverage their wide knowledge of suppliers in the region to get the best quality at the best price.

Over the years As It Should Be also did a great deal of work in my house: repairing flood damage, redoing internal ventilation, plumbing, electric repairs, installation of attic fans, etc. They rebuilt several ceilings and walls in the house they had been damaged by water. I could always trust them to do a quality job and, when there was an emergency, to do it immediately and efficiently. The crew is completely trustworthy and can be left alone in the house. I never hesitated to leave them my keys.

In general, As It Should Be is a very high quality contractor that can offer lots of imaginative suggestions on remodeling and solutions to any other problem. Prices are reasonable and they can be trusted to deliver a perfect product in the time they promise. They are also always ready to help in case of an emergency. I can't recommend them highly enough.

The contractor designed and constructed built-in cabinetry and a fireplace mantel in a condominium located in Washington DC in the Embassy Row neighborhood.

It went very, very well and the contractor's work far exceeded our expectations.
Specifically, this condominium was built in 1926 and our unit needed major renovations; we needed to design built in cabinetry in a second bedroom (approximately 10 x 14 feet) intended to accommodate a rather large wardrobe, provide general storage space, and to provide desk area. It was a rather daunting task. The contractor took his time to find out what exactly was going to be placed into the cabinets and was able to create a system that once finished, provided an incredible amount of space, which when living in smaller quarters is of great importance. The desk system which was designed is truly special; the desk drawers slide into the cabinetry, are completely hidden, and yet, when opened provide a work area of approximately 48 to 60 inches...more that sufficient for 2 computers and a printer.
The contractor also designed and constructed built in cabinetry in a den area (10 x 10 fee) which is extremely functional.
What occurred with the new fireplace mantel is also worth telling about; not surprisingly, the mantel is the focal point of the living/dining room and is a very important piece. My wife and I saw a picture of a mantel that we admired in a version of Architectural Digest, and we asked the contractor if he could make something similar. He told us "No, I will make you the exact fireplace mantel that you see in the magazine." We were skeptical, to say the least, because the mantel we saw in the magazine had a lot of intricate details. But lo and behold...I remember walking into the condominium the day that the mantel was installed...and darned if it didn't look exactly like the one out of Architectural Digest. Down to the last detail.
All in all, the quality of workmanship was very high.
Finally, for what it is worth, we have just recently hired the contractor to build some additional cabinetry and desk space in our home, and prior thereto, the contractor also did a fair amount of cabinetry work in our new offices.

As it Should Be worked with us from the original concept, design, material selection into a finished den and living room. There service included high end build-ins that included a media center and library/office. Additionally they designed and re-configured the fireplace wall and mantel and built custom furniture to fit the space.

Shlomo worked well with the interior designer and did a great job dealing with unplanned changes.

It went great, they saved about $18,000 from the next close bid. I would recommend them to anyone.

To start they completely finished our unfinished basement by framing new walls, insulation and drywall.
In addition our storage space was a huge issue, with little closets that were completely non-functional.
They transformed our typical hanging rod closets to European style closets that were 100% custom to our needs. They took the time and effort to listen and determine what each closet was going to be used to store and designed the closet for our exact needs. Organization has never been so easy!

"As it Should be" made custom cabinetry in 7 locations throughout my house. The master bedroom, master closets, media room, gym, powder room, as well as the living room. They ranged from a bathroom vanity, custom closets to multiple built in storage and shelving units in different rooms throughout the house. Half the units were finished with a paint finish and the others were custom stained wood finishes. They were extremely knowledgeable in helping with the design and finish selections, which in the end all worked perfectly with the design of the house as well as my decor.

I have dealt with many custom cabinet makers throughout the years in my business as a general contractor and the overall service, design, cost and speed they were installed were as good or better then what I have been accustomed to in the the past. The first piece I had them make was a powder room vanity, which required a stone top and polished chrome band at the base. Once that piece was delivered and installed and I saw the quality of their workmanship I was convinced to let them produce all the custom millwork throughout without ever consulting other contractors with whom I have had working relationships in the past.

We provided multiple custom trim piece samples from a high end project for As It Should Be to identify, create and install for us. The trim species ranged from poplar to mahogany to oak and/or pine which needed to be tooled to match the existing precisely, as it would be installed in areas where the original could be found. All of the trim had custom finishes that also needed to be matched to the existing to include the color and/or sheen. I have had As It Should Be perform a very large range of task from custom cabinetry manufacturing and install to repairs to existing pieces.

They provided me with my materials and installed the same with the expertise and precision that my customers and myself demand. We wanted to remodel our 24 year old kitchen and bathrooms. Shlomo designed our new kitchen and furniture for two bathrooms. He worked with our contractor to gut the previous kitchen and to enlarge the window and to install all the electrical requirements for the new design. He custom made all the cabinets, installed them and finished every cabinet with details custom made for my cutlery, pots and pans, etc. In the bathrooms he designed the furniture and the mirrors.

We wanted to remodel our 24 year old kitchen and two bathrooms. We went to 5 different companies and were not satisfied nor with the design nor the price. Shlomo from "AS IT SHOULD BE" was recommended to us by an interior designer that we used many years ago, and in her words -"there was nobody like Shlomo" - and he proved her right. He came up with a design that made sense, completely different from everybody else and his price was fair. His commitment was unsurpassed and the quality of his job superior. My experience with As It Should Be was phenomenal from start to finish. When they came to my home to prepare an initial estimate, they understood exactly what I wanted to do with my kitchen. My renovation posed some unique challenges - smaller space, less natural light, and most importantly, granite countertops that I was hoping they could save and reinstall. I had a custom vanity made for my master bathroom and a Murphy bed/wall unit made for my bedroom.

As It Should Be was highly recommended by a friend after he found out I was frustrated in trying to find a decent vanity at a reasonable price. I met with Shlomo who, after hearing me describe what I wanted, designed a fantastic vanity that has become the envy of all who have seen it. I then discussed other needs that I had and Shlomo designed a 12-foot wall unit that had a Murphy bed in the middle. In just a few weeks I had not merely a fantastic creation of an master carpenter, but a work of carpentry art.
Every aspect of my interaction was, excuse the pun, TOP SHELF, especially the design and the quality of the wood and work. In addition, the cost was extremely reasonable for custom work. When I had difficulty making a decislon about a particular aspect, Shlomo's input was invaluable. I accepted ALL of his recommendations and it turned out he certainly knew what he was talking about. Shlomo also installed wooden hand rails on my wrought iron rails.
I know of no other place where you can get such incredible quality at such a reasonable price, while dealing with such delightful people. In sum As It Should Be is As Good As It Gets.
